Family Constellation

“The Greater Soul moves in only one direction, and that is to bring into union that which has been made separate.”

– Bert Hellinger

Family Constellation is a way of looking at how family patterns may affect our lives, often in ways we’re not aware of. Developed by Bert Hellinger, it explores how unresolved traumas, entanglements, or exclusions in a family system can shape our experiences across generations.

Before a constellation: members of a system may sit at a distance, unseen in relation to one another.
Before the field begins to move, members of a system may appear apart.

A person brings an issue, something that feels stuck, painful, or unclear. Through the presence of representatives, a living image of their system begins to unfold.

This work is grounded in a phenomenological approach, which means observing what arises without trying to interpret or explain. It does not involve analysing or retelling one’s family story. Instead, it invites entry into a felt field where body, emotion, image, and movement guide the process.

Rather than aiming for a fixed outcome, we stay present with what emerges. We listen, acknowledge, and make space for what wants to be seen and included. We trust that what reveals itself will do so in its own time.

In a constellation, we place representatives in relation and notice what emerges.

I currently offer online 1:1 and group constellation sessions as part of my continued training and supervision as a systemic facilitator.

These sessions take place in a quiet, focused setting on Zoom with a small group of participants. Whether as a seeker, representative, or part of the holding circle, each role contributes to the field in a unique and essential way.

When to consider a Constellation

You might feel drawn to a constellation when something in your life feels stuck, unclear, or out of place, even if you can’t quite explain why.

Some people come with a specific question about a relationship, repeated pattern, or life decision. Others come with a sense of heaviness, disconnection, or a feeling that something doesn’t fully belong to them.

This work can offer perspective when:

  • A recurring issue resists resolution, despite other efforts
  • You feel weighed down by emotions that don’t seem fully your own
  • A family dynamic feels confusing or unresolved
  • You sense something inherited or passed on that wants attention
  • You are seeking deeper clarity or orientation in your life

You don’t need to know your full story, or have the perfect question. A constellation meets you where you are.

What to expect

In a group setting, constellations are held in a supportive field of participants who may serve as seekers, representatives or simply as part of the holding circle.

  • Seekers bring forward a personal or systemic question.
  • Representatives may be invited to embody elements of a system (family members, parts of self, etc.), guided by sensation and intuition. The invitation to represent is always optional and may be gently declined if it does not feel right in the moment.
  • The holding circle offers silent support, simply by being present.

Each role contributes meaningfully to the field. While not every participant will be actively involved in each constellation, presence itself plays an essential part.

Online format & confidentiality

Sessions are held online via Zoom in a quiet, focused space. To support the depth and safety of the work:

  • Please join using a computer or tablet (mobile are not recommended), with your camera on throughout the session.
  • Choose a private space, where you won’t be disturbed or overheard.
  • Use headphones for clearer sound and to protect the confidentiality of the space.

Confidentiality is essential.
We honour the privacy of those bringing constellations. You are welcome to share your own experience from a session, but please refrain from discussing the seeker’s story or any constellation details.

After the session, seekers are encouraged to give space to what has emerged, without rushing to interpret or explain it. Trusting the movement of the field allows the experience to integrate in its own time.

This space rests on mutual respect, presence, and a shared commitment to care.

Disclaimer: This work supports awareness and relational insight; it does not replace psychotherapy, medical care, or emergency support. If you are in acute distress, please reach out to a qualified professional or local emergency services.
